New poll - Gary Johnson at 16%!

The good news for Libertarian Gary Johnson:

Clinton 40%, Trump 31%, Johnson 16%, Stein 4% (PPP)

The bad news: That’s a poll of NEW MEXICO.

Yes, the State of which Gary Johnson was the GOP GOVERNOR.

In other words, this is the state where they know him the best, the state where he was popular enough to get elected and re-elected. The state where he doesn’t have to raise awareness and define himself.

And the best he can do is… 16%.

How’s he doing elsewhere? Not so good.

Nationally, his polling average has hovered around 8 percent (with one poll showing him as high as 12 percent, back in June).

That’s an improvement on his 2012 showing as the Libertarian nominee — he polled as high as 6% (but mostly hovered around 3%) and ultimately only received just under 1% of the vote (which was still the best Libertarian showing ever — sorry, David Koch!).

His best showing was — of course — in New Mexico, where he got an underwhelming 3.55% of the vote (after polling between 4% and 7%).

Looks he’s not getting into the debates.
